A Room That Brings the Outside In — Built to Last and Finished to Match
This Maple Bay sunroom addition is a project where the craft shows in every layer, from the concrete curbs poured at the base through through the post and beam construction. The scope covered the full process in-house: drawings, municipal permitting, sub-trade management, structural work, and all interior and exterior finishing. The result is an addition that feels like it was always part of the home.
The structural foundation of the project started with forming and pouring the concrete curbs and slab; work that has to be precise because everything else builds from it. The timber frame structure was milled and pre-finished at our shop, giving the sunroom its character and the visual warmth that distinguishes a well-built addition from a prefabricated one. The roofline was sistered to the existing structure to ensure the addition integrated properly with the home rather than sitting beside it as a separate element.
Window and door openings were framed to suit the design, with a 12' glass door that moves effortlessly, creating an 8' opening, blurring the lines between interior and exterior space. Windows and doors were installed throughout; maximizing light and connection to the outdoors while keeping the envelope tight and well-finished. On the exterior, Hardie plank cladding was selected to complement the existing home and stand up to the coastal climate. Inside, shiplap walls were installed and finished with paint and trim, and the flooring was laid to complete the space as a room you want to spend time in, not just pass through.
The permitting process; drawings, code compliance, municipal approval was handled entirely by the AS Design Build team, keeping the client clear of the administrative work and ensuring the build proceeded on a clean, approved timeline from start to finish.
