Framing, Finishing, and a Café Built from the Valley's Own Wood
This commercial renovation involved a full interior fit-out of a retail café space. The scope covered framing, drywall, trim, and paint throughout, along with alterations to the main retail counter layout to improve access and flow.
A custom barn door assembly was fabricated and installed with a supporting structure designed for secure lock-up of the retail space.
Original post and beam structure was exposed through grinding, sanding, and staining — bringing raw material character back into the space.
The standout feature of the project: custom tables and benches manufactured from eleven local wood species, all sourced from the Cowichan Valley — Douglas Fir, Garry Oak, Western Maple, Arbutus, Cottonwood, Western Red Cedar, Black Walnut, Western White Pine, Red Alder, and Pacific Yew.
